Irish twins eyeing Curtis Cup

Fourteen-year-old Irish twins Leona and Lisa Maguire have both been included in the squad from which the Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup team to play the United States in Massachusetts next June is to be selected..

Eleven of the 20 players named today (Friday) are teenagers, but if selected the Maguires would not be the youngest players ever to appear in the match.

Michelle Wie was 14 when she represented the USA at Formby in 2004 and the sisters turn 15 in November.

They have already appeared against Continental Europe in the Vagliano Trophy and last year Leona beat Lisa in the final of the Irish championship.

The Squad is: Hannah Barwood, Carly Booth, Amy Boulden, Gemma Bradbury, Holly Clyburn, Charlie Douglas, Jodi Ewart, Lucy Gould, Rachel Jennings, Louise Kenney, Leona Maguire, Lisa Maguire, Danielle McVeigh, Stephanie Meadow, Kelsey MacDonald, Pamela Pretswell, Kelly Tidy, Rhian Wyn Thomas, Kylie Walker and Sally Watson.
