Q-school: Busby and Baldwin shine

Matthew Baldwin

England's James Busby and Matthew Baldwin left the rest trailing in the first stage of the European Tour's Qualifying school at the Chart Hills Golf Club in Kent.

Busby's closing 66 meant he finished two ahead of overnight leader Baldwin, with Dutch amateur Sven Maurits in third place, all of six strokes further back.

Scot Craig Lee also finished with a 66 to win at the Dundonald Golf Club by five from England's Jamie Elson, son of former Tour player Pip.

In the meantime over in Continental Europe, it was easy to be confused at the Lubker course in Denmark with home player Lars Johansen taking first place ahead of Swede Lars Johansson.

In all 71 players advanced to the second stage from the four first-stage venues, Dutch amateur Jurrian Van der Vaart coming out top at Ribagolfe in Lisbon.
