Shot award for Westwood

Shot award for Westwood

Westwood took the title in Portugal.

Lee Westwood is on course to pick up two trophies tomorrow - the European Tour number one title and the Dubai World Championship - but he also collected an award on Saturday.

Westwood's chip from behind trees on the penultimate hole of the Portugal Masters was voted the European Tour's Shot of the Month for October.

There was water beyond the flag, but Westwood almost holed for eagle and went on to capture his first victory for over two years.

"I don't think I've ever played a better chip and I don't ever want to play that one again!" he said.

Second place went to Angel Cabrera's three-wood to the 18th green in the semi-final of the Volvo World Match Play Championship against Ross Fisher - he still lost in sudden death - while Fisher's 50-foot eagle putt at the fourth hole in the final against Anthony Kim was voted third.
